Happy Bird-Day!

This card is for a friend whose birthday was last week. The bird is from Whimsical Winter @ My Scrap Chick. I randomly cut white paper and stamped snow flakes all over it. The inside is from Song Bird. (It's one of the carts I'm babysitting.) :)
Sounds like the poor birds are in for a rough time of it the next couple of days. I've even heard that nasty rumor of 2 feet! Snow that is. Hopefully not. Trying to get a lot done today, but not overdo it. I'm pretty sure that's an oxymoron.

Something to Crow About

Last week I was really sick and a dear neighbor sent home with my hubby the best Get Well box. I ginormous box of Kleenex, a movie, Soup, cracker and bread. This is the card I made them to tell them Thanks. I'm babysitting my friend's Imagine and carts while she is on a cruise and used the Imagine More cart and the regular Just Because Cart. The brown background is from Martha Stewart's Elegant Cake.

Storage Helps

I haven't been doing any creating for a week now. Last Wednesday I got all kids of thing got up on around the house, Thursday we went to a funeral and Friday I got sick with lovely Bronchitis. So I've been lounging around watching TV and occasionally working on jigsaw puzzles. I think I've turned the corner and I can actually process thoughts again. Yeah! Still trying to coax my tummy into be nice again and sure would love some energy. Maybe tomorrow. Anyhoo. Thought I would share what I did a couple of weeks ago with the Cricut Storage. I've shown in the past how I keep my carts, overlays and books in photo boxes. Well I've put things from each cart on my dividers to help job my memory. And (this is the part that I love) I had an Aha moment and used my Cri-Kit Pens to write each of my fonts on my cards. They are all 1/2 inch. So I can see what they would look like. Makes it much easier to visualize when picking out a font.

The front of the cards look like this and the font backs look like the bottom picture.

Playing around with the Imagine

So my friend, Hollie, got an imagine for Christmas and I got a change to play around with it on Tuesday. I made this fun card using the Nifty Fifties Cart and the Best Friends Cart. I orginally was going to make it into a Birthday card for my friend, Deb, but then my daughter texted me. She sent me pictures of some of her art work that is on display at her college for Preview days. So I made it into I'm proud of you card. I like some of the options of the imagine, but that really made some thing ultra hard. I hate not being able to decide where on the made things print/cut. It's also a pain in the tush to make things the size you want. Really time consuming. I'm looking forward to playing around with it more, but it certainly doesn't replace the expression by a long shot.

My brother is having a birthday next week. This is the card that I made for him. He is a Ham radio guy so I used his call letters. The base of the card is embossed with the Stampin Up Lattice Folder. I used the Radio tower from Nifty Fifites. The letters are from Designers Calendar. The inside says Happy Birthday in Morse Code.

DinoMite Birthday

I made this card for one of my WeeKids. His birthday is next week. I used the Create a Critter cart. It's gonna be a lot of fun making kids card with this cartridge. The Dino Mite and Birthday are also from that card. The other writing is from Pooh Font. I used the Cricut markers for it. The paper I used is all from the leftover pile. I hate to waste anything.

Surprise Birthday

I made this card for a dear friend. Her husband threw her a surprise party tonight. She is such a special gal and is always doing so much for so many. I used so many of my resources to make this card.
The base, door, vines and poem are Penny Duncan, The gate is part of a card from Monica. The pillars and flowers are from the Moonlight Garden set at SVG Cuts. The grass is from Plantan Schoolbook cart. The butterflies are from MS Elegant Cake. The hummingbird and dragon flies are from Lyrical Letters.
I made the door seperate so she could open it. I'm happy to say she liked it. It was a wonderful party.

So Cely asked if it would fit into 5 x 7 or half sized envelope. Here is the cut file on an envelope.
I have also sized Penny's card files smaller, but it is think and the space is pretty small.

Hey Daddyo

This is a birthday card for a special friend. His birthday was last week but his present didn't get here until midweek. I used my new Nifty Fifties cart for the car and the words. I love the font on this cart as well as the great word combinations and pictures. The sun is from Pooh and Friends. The presents are from Sweet Treats. The great road and sign are from a Jpeg that I've earmark as Mama's Mels Stampin Addiction, but I can't find it on her blog. I hope I didn't tag it wrong. Anyway I traced it in SCAL2 and it cut beautifully.
I'm finally getting over the cold that won't end, but DH now has one so I hope I don't get it back. It's cold here again and DD is getting ready to head back to college this weekend. It's been a wonderful holiday season for us. Lots of great family time, a great deal of giggles and Mario Kart. Finally got my hair cut yesterday. 9 1/2 inches gone. I feel so light. Slept so good. My hair had been getting caught underneath me and waking me up. So glad for a bit of a change. Off to do laundry and mop. Got one more Christmas party tonight.

Grandparent Baby Card

So the previous post was for the parents of a very special new baby and this card will be for the Grandparents. They are such a sweet couple and have been waiting "patiently" for Grandchildren. The Moon is from My Scrap Chick and the Words are from the Nursery Rhyme Cartridge.

New Baby!

My kid's favorite babysitter just had his first child on Thursday. We are super excited for Him and his sweet wife. He is an outstanding Christian young man who has been a great example and teacher to both of my kids. I saw this cut file on Einnej's Esty shop and new I had to use if for their card. I used Penny Duncan's Hydrangea flower file for my embellishment. The inside sentiment is from Bethany's Elegant Word Art.

Church Pianist

Betty has been a church pianist for 63 years. Her health is getting to the point where she will be retiring tomorrow. This is the card I made for her. It took a lot longer to finish but I am very happy with the result. The Grand Piano is from Mardenz and the notes are in SCAL 2's library. The pop up piano is a Jennie-Bean. The Music stand I took from a photo. After tweaking it best a could I'm pretty happy with it. I scanned music from an very old hymnal.

Happy New Year

Happy 2011 to all. I've had company for a week and then got sick right after they left for the last several day. Finally starting to feel on the mend. Haven't had time to spend in the ArtHaven with all the comings and goings so I thought I'd share the boxes I made for our Christmas Swap at Art Club. I used the Big Boutique Boxes from SVG Cuts. They were easy peasy to make and they were a big hit at the party. I've got extra girl's here this morning and even had an extra boy for a while. (One of the kid's friend blew his radiator in front of our house.) Winter came back with the new year so I'm glad he had car trouble here and not in the country.

I am working on a couple of special cards that hopefully I will finish today.
