Christmas Ornament Swap

I decided to do the Christmas Ornament Swap in my ArtHaven Friendship Group.  I used one of Pablo's files to make this Pear out of silver paper.  I used gold stickles to accent the ornament.    I've been busy working on Christmas present in the ArtRoom so hopefully I'll have a few more posts coming.

Game Room Do-Over

So when we bought our house last December the Game Room was a floral explosion.
I knew that we could not live with that.
So we had painted the room an off white color.  The shelves were from the basement and the art room in the old house.   One was Olive Green and the others where a light green.   I really thought I had a picture but apparently not.   It was so boring.
I decided that I wanted to put this picture my husband brought home from a trip to Haiti.   It is the focal picture for the room.  For color flow from the TV room and the hall we decided on the yellow bandana for the color of the room.

My brother had some leftover Bead board that he gave us.   I hadn't never used a jigsaw before this project but it didn't take long for me get pretty good at it.  My hubby was very impressed that I cut the outlet holes out myself and even replaced the outlets that were there.
The shelves all got fresh coats of paint.   The two pictures in this photo are done
by my daughter in High School.   I think they are just fun.
The vinyl art I made using Sure Cuts A lot.   The saying is digital word art from Bethany's Elegant Word Art that I had.  I used Inkscape to convert it to an SVG file.
I finally got the room all put back together today.  I am loving the new look.   I would hope that a daughter of a dear friend would now longer call the room dim.  :)

The Old is New Again

So I thought I had a picture of the dresser before but haven't found one.    But one of our dressers was in pretty bad shape.  We bought the dresser used 27 years ago when we got married.   The veneer was cracking and coming off the dresser drawers.   I saw a post of Pinterest where they used scrapbook cardstock and Mod Podge.  A light bulb came on and I thought of a K & Co paper stack - Life's Journey I had been hoarding.  :)  I'm sure none of you do that.   I also thought I would paint the drawer handles as they are a black/brown.  Instead I started cleaning them with Brasso.  Took a whole morning but I found out that the handles were actually brass.    Here are the pictures of the finished product.  I added lots of little touches like cutting out flowers, flourishes and butterflies out of the paper.    I used the Storybook cartridge for that.

100 Acre Woods Birthday

So I have a friend who loves Pooh and Friends just as much as I do and her birthday is tomorrow. I gave myself Monday to spend in my Art Room to make her card. Yes I have been planning this card in my head for a while. While is was still a very hot day (I guess that is the only kind we have this year), it was a cloudy day so I was able to have the blinds
open in my room. I don't know about ya'll
but I'm much more creative when I can look outside at trees and stuff.

I used SVG Cuts September Stand Up Cards, The Maple Forest for my base card. Of course I made the leaves green because we haven't had enough green anything this summer.
I stretched it as big as I could make it.

I used Pooh and Friends Cartridge for the rest of the card. All the paper colors are Stampin' UP
These are my recipes for the card. Piglet was 2 1/4" and I use Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose
Eeyore was 2 1/2" and I use Brocade Blue, Bordering Blue and Regal Rose for Him.
The sign is 2 inches and I used leftover as well for the grass.

Tigger was 4 inches and I used Tangerine Tango, So Saffron and Pretty in Pink.
Owl was ? I think 2 1/2. I forget to measure. I used Crumb Cake and More Mustard for him. His wings was a piece of leftover paper.
Roo was 2 1/2 inches Temping Turquoise, a spare brown similar to Really Rust and Pretty in Pink.
Pooh was 3 1/2 inches. I use More Mustard and Really Red for Him.
Rabbit was 1 1/2 inch and I use Barely Banana and White and Pretty in Pink for him. The Tree House was 2 inches as was the cake.
I used the Pooh Font Cart and my Cri-Kit Pen to write the words on the back. I was tickled with how it came out and she loved the card. If you see Darla tomorrow, tell her Happy Birthday!

Window Card

So I need a couple of cards and was browsing the internet, mostly splitcoasters for card ideas. When I ran across a card that I knew I wanted to make my own version. Here is my version I used a window svg file from Kwernerdesigns. I used Stampin' up set Forever Young on Velum and embossed it. I did 2 windows inside and out.

You can take a peek at the original here. And please visit her blog the Paper Stamper.
I really like the way mine came out and I hope the ladies who receive them enjoy them.

Happy 85 Years Young

A very sweet gentleman from our church turns 85 years old today. I used a variety of small stamps in Poppy Parade and French Flourish stamp in black for the background.
The cut is from Mamaw's Legacy which is sadly no longer available. :( I miss her work! I popped up the Cardinals. What do you think of the card?

Sense my card has Cardinals I thought I would share about the Cardinals I have hear at the new house. I think there is about 6 pair of them. The males love to come onto my front porch and peek through the screen door. It about drives the cat crazy but they don't seem to mind them. They will also come and set on the closest branch to me when I am working out in the yard.

Heat Rash

So we have young man in church who is a fencer, and his birthday is the week. I really didn't plan to do a fencing card for him, but while flipping through my Paper Doll Dress Up
Book I hit upon this idea.
I used my cricut markers to draw the castle onto the card and then used another marker to highlight it. I would have liked to have made a nicer background and maybe printed off the words. But I had just pulled an all niter at a youth lock in the night before and was getting pretty sleepy. I did play around with Merlin's beard to make it look like Noah's.
Sorry about the glare on the Dragon. I had lost my natural light and had to use the flash.
I hope you all are staying cool. It sounds like the heat will continue for at least the next week

Hello

So I haven't done a ton in my ArtHaven but I have been sewing and working on lots of other projects. It's been a good summer although very dry here. It is suppose to reach 103 tomorrow! Will we make it without putting a window air unit in tomorrow? We shall see. Today is quite hot but the house it staying cool. I cooked earlier this week when it was cool so the food just needs to be reheated. On of the cards I did make the last couple of months is this card for my Mother for (what for it) Mother's Day. The doily is from Monica at Fambork! I love her stuff. I think I will have DH bring my sewing machine downstairs and put my iron outside under a tree tomorrow or maybe I will just hang out at the town pool. :)

It's Mario Time!

This is the card I made for my nephew's 9th birthday last week.
I have to say it's one of my favorite cards ever! It was a blast to make.
I pulled a screen shot off the internet and printed it on my card stock for my background.
I then used several files from Mardenz. I did take about her box file and remove the
question mark and put in the letters to Spell - Happy Birthday Clayton. I added a coin bouncing out of one of the boxes.
He thought the card was very cool!

Tweaking the ArtHaven

Well I've been at the new house long enough to figure out things that need moved. Last week I rearranged things in the Laundry Room. This week I had more fun by tweaking the ArtHaven.
I realized that my ink was completely in the wrong spot and I had some wasted space by the windows. So what do you think?

Fun with Acrylic Stamps

When I playing in the ArtHaven over the weekend I used a some of my colored images. This gal is a digi stamp from My Greeting Farm. She is a love of fun. The words are acrylic stamps from this months Close to My Heart's Stamp of the Month set.

The nice thing about acrylic stamps is that you can arch them to make then go different ways. Notice the first card I used the stamps straight as intended. In the second card I curve that stamp as I put it on my Block. I love how it came out!

Fun Day in the Art Room

Yesterday I spent most of the day in my room and got quite a few cards made.
All of the cards drew from colored and cut out box.
So some of the things are my stamps and some like the birds
above I must have stamped at a friend's house.

I used my new stamp set from Close to my Heart.
I'm not sure of the name, but it is an encouragement set.

I really like it because it has 2 stamps one for the outside and one for the inside.
Ex. Above - Just a note to brighten your day
Inside- and chase all those clouds away.

This card is my version of one they made at Art Club.
I just stamped my image twice and them punched them out with my Stamp punch.
I hope you enjoyed looking at my cards and I hope the inspire you.
Two of the stamps are digis by Elizabeth Bell and one is a Greeting Farm digi.

Anniversary Cards

I was asked to make an anniversary card for a friend's son's 1st Anniversary. Since it was their first anniversary I wanted to use the colors from their wedding which was pastel green and blue.
The card I made I used Penny Duncan's Swing Card File and See from the Heart Stamp. I used VersaMark to stamp French Flair background. Mulberry paper from Korea I used behind the See with the Heart Picture. I cut Happy Anniversary from Martha Stewart's Elegant Cake on the opposite side. I used a variety of stickers from Jeffery Allen.

Since the card was for someone else to give I got nervous and made a 2nd card so she would have a couple of choice. I used some various die cuts in my accessories box.

My Hubby like the first card best and my daughter likes the 2nd one best. I like them both.
Tomorrow we shall see if my friend like either.

I think I am finally getting my ArtRoom the way I like it. Although I am still having trouble finding all my stuff. This week though it will be neglected for the sewing room.

Some Valentine's Cards

I couple of Valentine's Day cards using Dustin Pike images. These are cards for my nephews.

New Art Room

We are finally mostly settled into our new home. We are loving it and we are getting to know our new community. I've got a whole new room just for my Art! I am so giddy about it still. It is messy already. :)
